The sheets are coated on both sides.
The lacquer on the inside increases
the resistance of the crown cork to
corrosion. At the same time, it also
serves for the adhesion of the plastic
sealing since the varnish is heated
again in the following seal fitting
process. The external varnish gives the
crown cork its basic colour: gold, silver
or white over the complete surface. |
It fixes the following printing process
and also offers protection against
corrosion.
The applied lacquer is dried in an
approx. 20 m long oven, equipped with
post firing systems which are limiting
the green gas migration to numbers far
below the EU standards. The various
types of varnish differ in weight, drying
temperature and running time through |
the oven. The consistency of the
coating is continuously controlled
by a differential weighing system.
An SPC control system monitors
the temperature and the running time
through the oven.
After printing a further coat of
lacquer is applied which protects
the printing from damage. |
